Over the past 15 years (2006-2021), VNU UET has advanced to the ICPC World Finals 10 times. As the Champion of the 2020 ICPC Asia Can Tho Regional Contest, EggCentroy team, including Bui Hong Duc, Vu Hoang Kien and Nguyen Trung The; and as the second-place winner at the 2019 ICPC Asia Manila Regional Contest, the Registers with Pham Tuan Nghia, Nguyen Minh Quan and Nguyen Minh Tung, were both qualified for the ICPC World Finals.

Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 ICPC World Finals Moscow has been rescheduled for October 1-6, 2021 and the 2021 ICPC World Finals Dhaka (Bangladesh) has been moved to 2022.

This contest is a multi-level contest, including institutional, domestic regional, national and regional levels. It is estimated that more than 50,000 candidates from more than 3,000 universities in 111 countries participate in the ICPC with over 400 on-site contests.
