The first session of “Japanese and Vietnamese Business”

As part of Vietnam Japan University’s industry collaboration course with Mitani Sangyo Co. Ltd. and Koganei Seiki Co. Ltd., on Wednesday 6 October an online lecture was presented featuring Mitani Sangyo’s Vietnam Business Planning Chief and AUREOLE CSD Inc. General Director, Mr Miura Shuhei, and Miura Sangyo’s Vietnam Business Planning Promotions Officer and AUREOLE Expert Integrators Inc., Ms Nguyen Phuong Mai.

This collaborative course, in cooperation with Mitani Sangyo Co. Ltd. And Koganei Seiki Co. Ltd., was opened in fall 2021 with the keywords ‘Japanese style Monozukuri’, with an aim to foster talent who can capture Japanese ‘Monozukuri’ in a global perspective, through a Japanese bachelor program course and annual seminar. This semester’s course is ‘Japanese and Vietnamese Business’, and is also planned to feature a lecture from Koganei Seiki Co. Ltd.
With the theme ‘27 years of history in Vietnam – fostering talent and organizational structure at ACSD’, an overview of Mitani Sangyo Co. Ltd. and their move into Vietnam, as well as of Mitani Sangyo’s foreign subsidiary ACSD’s business and talent training programs, etc were presented. An explanation was also provided of ACSD’s importance on ‘localization’, with Vietnamese staff forming the center of company operations emphasizing on increasing motivation and understandings of the meanings and aims of plans, and of projects as a whole, rather than just of individual tasks; and, finally, the emphasis on developing new staff and the program to dispatch staff to Japanese customer businesses.

In the question and answer session, students asked ‘In order to enter the company, is knowledge of the architecture field necessary?’ and ‘How is the team formed within the company?’. In response to the former question, Mr. Miura said that there was a trend towards those who had studied Japanese culture and Japanese business thought developing quickly, and not necessarily those who had studied architecture as a major at university. In response to the latter question, he said that the engineering section organizes teams according to customers, and described the structure of the back office team that supports business administration, including the general affairs, accounting, and HR sections; which was a valuable opportunity for the attending students to learn about the organizational management of a Japanese business.
