The QS AUR 2022 compares a total of 675 universities across the continent (including 38 first-time participants). Data for this ranking was collected from the responses of more than 130,000 academics and 75,000 employers worldwide along with analysis results of 96 million citations (from 2015 to 2020) and 14.7 million scientific publications (from 2015 to 2019) after the exclusion of self-citations.
According to the QS AUR 2022 ranking results, VNU continues to maintain its international position and academic reputation as it has been placed in Top 100 by Academic Reputation for the second consecutive year (ranked 98th in QS AUR 2022 – an increase of one place compared to the previous ranking). In addition, the increased position in 3 indicators, including international research network, proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students, is a recognition of VNU's virtual promotion activities in international cooperation with foreign education institutions in the context of restricted international travel caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides VNU, 10 other Vietnamese universities have been listed in this year ranking, namely Ton Duc Thang University (142nd), VNU, Ho Chi Minh City (179th), Duy Tan University (210th), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (in Group 281 – 290), Hue University (in Group 401 – 450), Danang University and Can Tho University (in Group 501- 550), Hanoi National University of Education and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (in Group 551 – 600), and the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (in Group 601 – 650).
