Speaking at the ceremony, VNU President Le Quan said that VNU had established its position of a leading centre of training, scientific research and knowledge transfer in Vietnam. VNU's organizational model allows its member universities and affiliated units to share common resources, to connect and create synergy, thereby bringing about high-quality products in training, scientific research and technology as well as pioneering in innovation to worthily contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

With the mission entrusted by the State in carrying out national and regional development tasks, VNU is clearly aware of its responsibility to serve the community. VNU with its potential of a team of highly qualified scientific staff, lecturers with modern equipment will cooperate, support, give advice and share experiences, especially in policy consulting activities, sustainable development planning, vocational education support, primary education, hi-tech agriculture research and development, application of technology transfer and a number of human resource training and development activities, contributing to the sustainable development of Hau Giang province.

Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the cooperation between VNU and the province. He emphasized that this cooperation would greatly support Hau Giang, especially in the fields of training, knowledge and technology transfer, etc. Each content in this cooperation agreement has focused on the development strategies of the province. The two sides will soon concretize a plan to effectively implement the cooperation with an evaluation of cooperation results each year.

With the goal of promoting the potentials and strengths of each party to jointly solve practical problems in training, human resource development, scientific research and technology transfer for socio-economic development and international integration for the period 2022-2026, VNU and Hau Giang province identified three key tasks.

Firstly, regarding training and human resources development, VNU will be responsible for organizing made-to-order undergraduate and postgraduate training courses or training courses on expertise, professionalism and skills for Hau Giang provincial officials; training to improve management and administration capacity, operational skills according to title standards for management staff (Department level/District level/strategic resource officer, etc.) for the province.

Secondly, as for scientific research and technology transfer activities, VNU will carry out scientific and technological tasks in the direction of promoting the potentials and strengths of the province, such as high-tech and clean agriculture, technology transfer for the development of industrial production, e-government and digital transformation, tourism development associated with the unique culture and tourism value chain in the Mekong Delta, climate change response, etc.

Thirdly, regarding policy advice on socio-economic development, VNU will appoint experienced experts and scientists to consult, assist in the formulation or criticism of Provincial Resolutions, Schemes, Planning, big and important programs on the socio-economic development of Hau Giang province.
