VNU seeks hi-tech cooperation
On July 12, 2022, VNU President Le Quan and Vice President Pham Bao Son chaired a meeting with Mr. Serg Bell, Founding Chairman of Acronis and Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (Alemira), and Mr. Philipp Roesler, Chairman of VinaCapital Ventures Advisory Board, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Acronis, a company in the fields of cyber protection, cybersecurity, computer intelligence, cyber cloud, and cyber platform, founded in Singapore in 2003 and in Schaffhausen, Switzerland in 2008, is currently present in more than 150 countries. Acronis' Singapore headquarters has 205 employees from 22 countries, with 130 research and development professionals. This business is cooperating with the Singapore Government in policy consulting, research & development, providing cyber security solutions and services.

At the meeting, the two parties focused on cooperation in research and training. Acronis is currently looking for partners and opportunities to build research and development branches in Vietnam to support Acronis to develop Cyber Protect products, with priority given to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, this technology group is also seeking opportunities to cooperate with the Vietnamese Government in searching for preferential policies and support for high technology, and concurrently, to connect with universities and startups in Vietnam. Along with that, Acronis is also interested in attracting excellent students in the fields related to Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, ... due to the small number of Vietnamese engineers currently working for the company.

VNU President Le Quan welcomed Acronis' intention to build a research centre in Vietnam and said that VNU is currently developing research facilities in Hoa Lac. If feasible, this will be an important linkage to help promote R&D activities in Vietnam in the context that VNU is now the leading scientific research and training centre in the country. Moreover, the representative of the Board of Presidents invited Acronis to join VNU in start-up support activities and start-up competitions to support research teams professionally right from the beginning.

Within the framework of the meeting, Acronis Chairman also had the opportunity to discuss with leading scientists of VNU in particular and Vietnam in general such as Prof. Dr.Sc Nguyen Dinh Duc, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Son, … to identify new research directions of mutual interest.

Previously, the delegation visited the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, ... under VNU University of Engineering and Technology to learn about the university’s potential for training and scientific research in the fields of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics and Telecommunications, …
