VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students contestant wins bronze medal at the World Xiangqi Championship 2022
The 17th World Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championship was held from October 24 to October 28, 2022, in Kuching City, Sarawak State, Malaysia. 126 players from 17 countries and territories participated in the competition, including Brunei, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the USA and Vietnam.

At this tournament, chess players competed for 8 sets of medals in the categories of men’s and women’s individual standard chess; under-16 men’s and women’s individual standard chess; under-12 men’s and women’s individual standard chess; men’s team standard chess and rapid chess championship.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with 4 champion titles (men’s team, women’s under-16; men’s under-16; women’s under-12), and one non-official title (rapid chess), Vietnam became the most successful team and surpassed the Chinese team at the 2022 World Xiangqi Championship.
