VNU and Ha Tinh province sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement
On March 16, 2023, in Ha Tinh, VNU's delegation led by VNU Party Committee Secretary, President Le Quan, had a working session and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in education, science and technology, and implementation consultation for the 2023 - 2027 period with Ha Tinh province authorities.

VNU President Le Quan and Deputy Secretary of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.

At the meeting, the delegates discussed and agreed on detailed contents to promote the potentials and strengths of each side, and jointly solve practical problems in training and development of high-quality human resources as well as scientific research activities and technology transfer.

Addressing the meeting, VNU President Le Quan emphasized that, with the role and mission of a leading centre for human resources training and high-quality scientific research of the country, VNU had the responsibility to cooperate with localities for promoting economic and social development. With its potentials and strengths, VNU would launch high-quality human resources training cooperation activities with Ha Tinh province to develop hi-tech agriculture, logistics, tourism, culture, regional planning, etc.

The cooperation agreement signed between VNU and Ha Tinh province is to realize the development goals of the province in the 2023-2027 period with the following 4 key tasks: Training and developing human resources; Scientific research and technology transfer; Policy advice on socio-economic development; and Building and developing Ha Tinh University.

VNU President Le Quan added that VNU was entering a new phase with the orientation of expanding development space. That orientation is highly consistent with the policy of transforming the operation mechanism of Ha Tinh University.

During this cooperation period, the two sides will promote 10 specific cooperation tasks, namely: Developing a project to transform the operation mechanism of Ha Tinh University to turn it into a VNU’s member university; Training and fostering teachers in response to the new textbook program; Fostering local management skills for district/commune/enterprise officials; Fostering and improving the capacity of digital transformation in association with the implementation of the provincial planning; Building a pre-feasibility project of Vietnam Sea and Island Museum; Studying the effects of either  stopping or implementing Thach Khe Iron Mining Project on surrounding communities; Developing a project of Nguyen Du cultural space; Building local brand identity; Coordinating in the implementation of Ha Tinh gazetteer project;  and Implementing the project of monitoring and assessing marine environmental impacts.

VNU President especially emphasized that in transforming the operation mechanism of Ha Tinh University to make it a VNU member, the most important task to do is to improve the university’s education quality according to VNU criteria. In addition, the university is to synchronize its policies, input quality, output standards, and investment criteria as required by VNU. VNU President Le Quan suggested that the two sides agree on guidelines, ways of implementation, and build a project to restructure Ha Tinh University into a key training unit in the region.

Mr. Hoang Trung Dzung - Secretary of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, expressed his thanks to VNU for opening the opportunity for Ha Tinh to receive important advice on its socio-economic, party, politics and education development. He expected that the signing of the cooperation document with VNU would be a premise for the development and implementation of the strategic goals of the province in the coming period.

On the same day, VNU’s delegation visited and worked with the Board of Rectors and lecturers of Ha Tinh University.
