The summit was held on October 29, 2023 at the National Innovation Centre in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park (NIC Hoa Lac), among the series of events of Vietnam International Innovation Expo (VIIE) and NIC Hoa Lac inauguration.
Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Chi Dung said, “This is a rare opportunity for us to concretize investment cooperation and promote the development of this high-tech industry in Vietnam”.
VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son said that as a leading scientific research and training centre, VNU has proactively built and implemented VNU's science, technology and innovation strategy for the 2021-2030 period to promote the development of science and technology to a new level in the future, which is a breakthrough in developing VNU into a smart and innovative university.
VNU has promoted the implementation of new research and technological development directions, priority technologies in accordance with the 4.0 industrial revolution trend; and focused resources on implementing a number of national key programs in energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, biomedical electronics, etc.
Together with Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), VNU Hanoi has been training in and researching into semiconductor chip design for more than 20 years. Notably, VNU has been conducting a training and research program on chip design since 2009 as well as investing in a lot of equipment and laboratories to serve semiconductor chip training and research.
The summit comprised two sessions: Developing the global semiconductor industry and opportunities for Vietnam; and Preparing human resources for developing the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
Also during the summit, the Vietnam Semiconductor Network was launched as a new step in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. This network is expected to gradually realize the development direction of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry to make Vietnam a reliable partner in the regional and global semiconductor ecosystem, raising Vietnam’s position in the global value chain.
