According to the Decision, Mr. Ozasa Haruhiko, the Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Hanoi, was appointed as member of the VJU Board of Trustees for the 2021-2026 term to replace Mr. Nakajima Takeo, the former Chief Representative of JETRO Hanoi, who has been assigned to other duties.
The Board of Trustees of VJU for the 2021-2026 term has 20 members including 10 members representing Vietnam and 10 members representing Japan with VNU President Le Quan as the Chairman of the Board.
In addition to the ex officio members, the Board includes influential politicians, leaders of major universities and corporate executives, who have a significant influence on diplomatic and economic relations between Vietnam and Japan, such as Special Advisor to the Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu; the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Ito Naoki; the President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, Mr. To Huy Rua; Central Party Committee member and Secretary of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Pham Dai Duong; Chairman of the Tuan Chau Group, Mr. Dao Hong Tuyen; and Chairman of Phu Thai Holdings, Mr. Pham Dinh Toan.
Prof. Furuta Motoo, former Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Studies Association, President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, and former Vice President of the University of Tokyo, is the Rector of VNU Vietnam Japan University.
The VJU Council has the following duties and powers:
– Approving the VJU’s medium-term development strategy and operation plan to submit to VNU for approval;
- Mobilize financial resources from the domestic and foreign private sector to serve the construction and development of the University;
- Monitor the use of resources for the University; the implementation of regulations and important internal management regulations of the University; the projects of establishment, merger, division, separation and dissolution of units under the University;
– Approving regulations on standards, duties, powers and interests of the Rector and Vice Rectors to ensure compliance with current regulations of charter of VJU and VNU;
- Conducting annual assessment of the outcomes of the accomplishment of the Rector and Vice Rectors; Proposing to President of VNUHN to appoint Rector and Vice Rectors.
