At the working session, VNU President Le Quan expressed his gratitude to Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and the representatives from the Japanese government and partners, for their support and participation in the 10th anniversary celebration of VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) in October. He praised the event's success, noting that it left a significant impact on thousands of people, especially the youth of Vietnam.
Prof. Le Quan shared that, in the era of the nation’s rise, VNU has earned the trust and recognition of the Party and State for its important role in training high-quality human resources, nurturing talents for the country, bringing the brand of the Vietnamese higher education to the region and the world. VNU will further promote its achievements, maintain the mission of being the cradle of training talents and talented scientists; pioneer in and lead the higher education system in international integration, strive to become a leading scientific research centre of not only the country, but also the region and the world; a cooperation destination for large domestic and foreign enterprises; and a place to incubate science and technology enterprises.
VNU President Le Quan informed Mr. Takebe Tsutomu that VNU had been actively working with relevant ministries and sectors to complete the pre-feasibility project for VJU and submit it to the government for approval. He hoped that the government, universities, and businesses in Japan would continue to support and collaborate with VJU to provide research and training outputs in advanced engineering, technology, and interdisciplinary science for sustainable development.
According to VNU President Le Quan, the establishment of VJU Academy of Japanese Culture, Technology and Language (VJU Academy) is important in that it would receive human resources trained in Japan with the knowledge of the language, culture, and professional skills for the domestic labour market. The Academy would also train people in cultural, technical, and language skills through short-term programs in collaboration with various educational organizations, enriching VJU’s practical educational programs.
Mr. Takebe Tsutomu expressed his admiration for the activities held during the 10th anniversary celebration of VJU, especially the cultural exchange events that had attracted about 15,000 participants. He believed that the event owed its success to the strong support from the Vietnamese and Japanese governments, agencies, and organizations, as well as the close and decisive leadership of VNU President Le Quan.
He suggested that, in the coming period, all the concerned parties should continue to focus resources on developing VJU into a leading, prestigious and high-quality university in the region and Asia. VJU aims to train a new generation of human resources with high practical adaptability, capable of meeting the economic and social needs of both Vietnam and Japan. VJU Academy is expected to provide global human resources ready to work and further strengthen the connection between the university and society, while contributing to the university's financial foundation by training a large diverse workforce. Mr. Takebe emphasized that he himself and the Japanese government would continue to pay special attention to the development of VJU. He hoped that VNU would help expedite the approval of the VJU’s pre-feasibility project and the ODA funding procedures.
