Kanazawa University was established in 1949 as a leading university in Japan. To meet the requirements of high quality human resources in the economy, intellectual, Kanazawa University has developed to be an oriented research university. For such purposes, in 2008, KU has rearranged structure. Currently, KU has three colleges and 16 faculty members with 2523 staff and 7982 students. .
 In terms of ranking by Webometrics:
 - No. 580/6000 universities in the world;
 - Ranked 64th in Asia;
 - Ranked 18th in comparison with Japanese universities.
 Undergraduate students: 1,700 students / year
 Graduate students: 800 students / year
 International students: 350 students / year, from 40 countries worldwide.
