Since May 1, 2021, due to the complicated development of the pandemic situation, the International School has promptly switched its operation to online learning and working.

On July 24, 2021, when Hanoi implemented Directive 16/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on social distancing, the institution entered a new period of complete online learning and working. Fortunately, during this difficult period, all VNU-IS staff, lecturers and students still maintain their well-being to work and study effectively in a positive spirit. VNU-IS has also prepared Covid-19 vaccination for most of its staff and lecturers. On top of that, the institution organizes a wide range of activities such as training sessions to provide pandemic prevention skills and promote daily training activities to encourage and motivate its staff, lecturers and students.

However, online learning and working have posed a number of difficulties, especially in the period of social distancing. The staff and lecturers feel stressed and depressed to a certain extend. Besides, some students are stuck in Hanoi, facing many difficulties in their daily life. VNU-IS students also suffer from financial problems for being unable to continue their part-time jobs.

Under the ongoing situation, VNU-IS Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control had an extended discussion and decided to provide immediate support to its staff, lecturers and students.

On August 14, 2021, VNU-IS offered over 200 gifts, including necessities and cash, to domestic and international students in Hanoi who have difficulties in the midst of the pandemic. For students who are studying online, VNU-IS will provide a financial support package (for electricity, water, internet supply) to ensure good learning conditions at their home. In addition, the institution will continue to deliver books to students' home and provide financial support for materials and textbooks of students in the English foundation program.For its staff and lecturers, VNU-IS offers a financial support package for phone and internet usage during the online teaching and working period. The institution will attempt to speed up the progress of Covid-19 vaccination for foreign lecturers and international students.

In addition, VNU-IS will conduct a review of students/families with special difficulties due to the pandemic to consider awarding scholarships to support their study.In the next period of time, VNU-IS will develop an archive of e-lectures, organize academic competitions, and foster solutions and methods to improve teaching and learning quality in the context of extended online training. The institution will strongly focus on the communication about the pandemic; guidelines and policies of the Government and VNU; as well as supporting the well-being of staff, lecturers and students by organizing training sessions to foster Covid-19 adaptation and response.

Thus, the International School always hopes to overcome challenges and difficulties together with its staff, lecturers and students. Hopefully with the timely support from the institution, VNU-IS staff, lecturers and students will maintain the motivation to continue their work and daily life.
