11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
1. Signal generator:
- Simulations of Barker code, M code and LFM wave generators using Goldwave software and Matlab Simulink.
- Fabrication the PIC 16F877A circuits to generate the Barker sequences. The bit width is arbitrary and the minimum is 0.2 µs.
- Fabrication the BPSK modulator from Barker code to IF 10.3 MHz.
The microcontroller circuit is universal for many codes generation, archives the spectacular results that normal circuits cannot do.
2. Signal processing:
- Simulation: investigate Rmaxand SNR; using matched filter and ambiguity function to suggest a solution of improvement of radar resolution. Investigate PD and Pfa depend on SNR due to the pulse integration technique for five Swerling models; Design and simulate a pulse compression circuit for BPSK signal of Barker code and M code interlaced.
- Fabrication: FIR, IIR filters on TMS320C6416T 1GHz of Texas Instrument; high speed A/D, D/A modules connected to the DSP56307 EVM of Motorola.
The simulation results are necessary for calculations and fabrications. The hardware results include two parts: the universal filters with flexible changing in filter structures and specifications, and the high speed A/D, D/A converters for digital signal processing of high frequency signals using the commercial DSP board.
3. Receiver fabrication: local oscillator using the frequency synthesizer that the frequency can be easily change by the control of the microcontroller; UHF receiver with the specifications could be compare with commercial receivers. The frequency band is also easily adjust and the sensitivity is very high (-110 dBm).
Transmitter fabrication: with the support of simulation softwares like Ansoft, ADS for microtrip impedance matching calculations, investigation of the operation by spectrum analyzer, network analyzer. Two microwave power amplifiers: a module of output pulse power 90 W, and two stages module of 45 W, 90 W.
12. Practical applicability, if any :
With radar systems in Vietnam, it is essential to research and develop new modern radar systems using the modern electronics devices and techniques. The important distributions of these results mentioned above are shown clearly in two branches:
- The modules are small, flexible in design and fabrication and application; the specifications are better and almost can not be done by the older modules.
- Nowadays the needs of radar applications in military and civil in Vietnam are more and more increase both of complication and variety. Buying the aboard systems always face to two problems of price and non-suitable for the conditions of Vietnam. By that the own research and development is very meaningful.

- Continue to develop to specialized radar signal processing boards or ICs.
- Research of particular applications of given radar systems.
