11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
First use of carbon paste modified materials by mercury oxide to manufacture. Process operation of electrodes, Hg film was created without using the solution Hg2+. Study the ratio C: HgO, find the appropriate mass ratio is 2:1.
Studied the electro-characterization of paste cacbon modified by HgO electrodes as potential window, suitable pH, ability to create the Hg film on the electrode suface, stable and durability of electrode. Results showed that the new electrode is built and how nature works similar to mercury film electrode, but not using Hg2+ solution so do not cause adverse impacts to the environment. In suitable conditional, electrode with variable potential window, ability to accumulate fast, stable surface, the electrode durability and environmental friendliness.
Found the optimum conditions for detemination of Cu2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Zn2+ ions by anodic stripping voltammetry and adsorptive stripping voltammetry.
Applied to the determination of some heavy metals in natural waters, domestic natural water with satisfactory results.
Proposed the analysis procedure for trace metals in nature samples by stripping voltammetry at a HgO-modified carbon paste electrode. The proposed method has the following advantages: using of inexpensive instruments, common chemicals, simplicity, high sensitivity, high selectivity, high precision and reproducibility. This method overcame the disadvantages of the previous electrode such as no need of Hg2+ ion, no cause to worry about the environment, ability to analyze field.
12. Practical applicability: Electrodes can be used to determine some heavy metals in samples in the laboratory and analyze field.
13. Further research directions: Research using electrode to analyze As3+, Cr3+ ions.
