11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- 2-mecapthobenzothiazone (2-MBT) was selected as a new reagent complexing with Cd(II) for cadmium determination by SW-AdSV. Electrochemical characteristics and composition of the Cd(II)-(2-MBT) complex were studied: the number of electrons transferred in electrode process were 2; the number of ligand in the complex was 1 and stability constant of the complex (b) was 106.52.
- BiFE-bt was firstly developed for SW-AdSV for cadmium determination (with two-stage pre-concentration and suitable conditions). The method gained good linear range (0.5 ¸ 10 ppb), high sensitivity (2.082 ± 0.187 mA/ppb), good precision (RSD = 5.8% ¸ 12.0%) and low detection limit (0.19 ± 0.02 ppb).
- Suitable conditions for SPE separation and concentration of cadmium, and removal of interferents such as Cl- and Fe(III) were found out.
            - Based on the results obtained, the procedures for detection of cadmium in natural samples, several pure chemicals and river sediment samples were established. Confidence of the procedures was confirmed through analysis of Certified Reference Material and spiked samples.
- The procedures were successfully applied for detection of trace/ultara-trace cadmium in natural water samples (river, lagoon, coastal, underground and mineral water samples), Huong river sediment samples in Thua Thien Hue province and several pure chemicals (Merck, Germany).
12. Practical applicability:
The first in Vietnam, the new procedures and could apply in laboratory in Vietnam for detection of ultrace cadmium in several environment samples by SW-AdSV using Nafion-coated bismuth film electrode in situ exchange for mercury electrode.
13. Further research directions:
- Continue to study SW-AdSV method using Nafion-coated bismuth film electrode in situ for detection of ultrace cadmium in different environment samples for example biologicals, pharmaceuticals and foods,…
- Study to apply SW-AdSV method using Nafion-coated bismuth film electrode in situ for detection of ultrace organic compound in different samples.
