11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
Based on the synthesis and analysis of the sequence stratigraphic models in the world and analyzing the characteristics of sedimentary Pliocene - Quaternary on the study area, Sequence stratigraphic model of Coe. A. L. et al, 2003 is applied for reaseaching Pliocene - Quaternary sedimentary evolutionary on the continental shelf from Quang Nam to Binh Thuan. The main results show that the evolution of Plioncene - Quaternary sedimentary on the continental shelf, from Quang Nam to Binh Thuan includes 8 cylces upward (N21, N22, N23, Q11, Q12a, Q12b, Q13a, Q13b-Q2) corresponding to 8 cycles of sea level fluctuations. The grain size varies in cyclicity and trends to smaller from forth to eighth cycle. The Pliocene-Quaternary sea level change is horizontal seaward direction. The current continental shelf are built out seaward by tremedous amount of terrigeous sediment, belong to subaqueous deltaic facies, caused by the regressive period of Pliocene - Quaternary sea level change and tectonic uplift on the inner shelf, subsidence on the outer shelf. Fluctuating sea levels from the 5.000 year before to present are the small amplitude fluctuations in the trend of falling sea levels in the larger cycle. Placers of Pliocene - Quaternary sediments mainly are concentrated on the ravinement surface and paleoshoreline zones: 100-120m, 50-60m, 25-30m in water depth.
12. Practical applicability:
Participating in selecting the sequence stratigraphic pattern which is suitable for researching Pliocen - Quaternary sedimentology on the Vietnam continental shelf and coastal plains. Being the scientific fundamental for researching marine mineral geology, geoengineering - geoenvironment and sea level change in Pliocen - Quaternary period in Vietnam.
13. Further research directions: no
