11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- The Thach Han River Basin is formed in an area with abundant natural conditions, along with the impacts of human activities, which differentiates the water characteristics as well as the current status of water use. The diversity of the area is subdivided into 12 subregions based on topography, watershed of river basins, administrative boundaries and current land use status.

- Through the results of the vulnerability assessment of subregion, it was found that all subregions were highly vulnerable. However, There is, a division of vulnerability. In sub-CIV1 (lowland) and CIV2 and CIV3 suburbs (coastal) with high vulnerability, sub-zones CI3, CIII1 and CIII2 are least affected in the basin. The main causes in the deltas and coastal areas are due to the pressure of water use, leading to the lack of water in the dry season, water is susceptible to salinization, not ensuring environmental sanitation due to the activities of people and economy. In the midland and hills, poor water supply conditions, people do not have access to clean water. In areas where fisheries and animal husbandry are developed, water is easily contaminated due to unsatisfactory housing and environmental sanitation, the status of forest development is low.

- Policy makers should take appropriate measures such as raising people's awareness, management of the water supply, change of cropping mechanism, repair and upgrading of water transport and storage, planting of trees for greening bare hills, socialization of clean water supply and environmental sanitation.

12. Practical applicability, if any: it can be a reference material for the teaching and learning of geohydrology. It is possible to use the analysis, statistics and conclusions of the thesis in practical and proposed activities in integrated water resources management in the study area.
