Returning to the place under the decision 5033/QĐ-ĐHKHTN date on 30.12.2016 signed by Rector of VNU University of Science.

7. Official thesis title: Tectonic and  geodynamic mechanism of  the Cenozoic basins formation at  the Tu Chinh - Vung May area.

8. Major: Geology                                                                     9. Code: 62440201

10. Supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Vuong

                   Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Trong Tin

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

Having identified the major faults that control Cenozoic forming basins including the fault of East Sea, Da Lat, Huyen Tran, Tu Chinh, Phuc Nguyen and Vung May.

Having identified 3 structural stages: Oligocene - Lower Miocene, Middle Miocene, Upper Miocene and Pliocene.

Highlight the Cenozoic basins forming-mechanism due to Oligocene-Early Miocene rift extension and followed by Middle Miocene compression and thermal subsidence  in Late Miocene – Pliocene.

12. Practical applicability:  Having identified  potential tectonic structures for oil and gas in the study area.

13. Further research directions: Studying the influence of Pliocene - Quaternary volcanic activity affected structure in the study area.
