7. Official thesis title:

Stability analysis and dynamic response of FGM truncated conical shells

8. Major: Solid Mechanics                                              9. Code: 62440107

10. Supervisors:                        Prof. Dr Sci Nguyen Dinh Duc

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Do Long

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- Linear buckling analysis of stiffened FGM truncated conical shells and sandwich FGM truncated conical shells resting on elastic foundations, subjected to mechanical and thermal loads. The closed-form expression for determining the critical buckling loads are obtained.

- Nonlinear stability analysis of stiffened FGM truncated conical shells resting on elastic foundations, subjected to mechanical and thermo-mechanical loads. The closed-form expressions for determining the critical buckling load and for analyzing the post-buckling load–deflection curves are obtained.

- The nonlinear dynamic response and vibration of FGM truncated conical panel with piezoelectric actuators and stiffened FGM truncated conical shell resting on elastic foundations in thermal environments are analyzed.

- The effects of stiffeners, dimensional parameters, volume fraction index, applied actuator voltage, temperature increment and elastic foundations on buckling, post-buckling behaviors and dynamic response of shell are discussed.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The significance remarks of this thesis may be used as important references for
engineering designs.

13. Further research directions, if any

- Research the nonlinear stability and dynamic analysis of imperfect stiffened FGM truncated conical shells subjected to mechanical, thermal and thermo-mechanical combination loads with different boundary conditions.

-  Research the nonlinear stability and dynamic analysis of imperfect stiffened FGM truncated conical shells subjected to special loads. For example: torsional load, blast load…

- Research the nonlinear stability and dynamic analysis of imperfect nano-FGM truncated conical shells subjected to mechanical, thermal and thermo-mechanical combination loads with different boundary conditions.

- Research the nonlinear stability and dynamic analysis of FGM conical shells subjected to different loads.
