11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- The effective boundary condition method has been developed for the structure of an elastic half-space coated by an elastic layer with the sliding contact and the spring contact.

- The incompressible limit method has been developed for the orthotropic elastic materials under plane strain.

-  The explicit secular equations of Rayleigh waves in elastic half-spaces overlaid by an elastic layer with the welded, sliding and spring contacts, for compressible and incompressible as well, have been derived by employing the effective boundary condition method along with the incompressible limit method.

The main results of the thesis have been published in 09 ISI papers (06 SCI papers, 03 SCIE ones), and 01 Vietnam Journal of Mechanics’ paper.

12. Paratical applicability, if any:  To evaluate the mechanical properties of structures by using the obtained explicit secular equations.

13. Further research directions, if any:

- Application of the effective boundary condition method to derive approximate effective boundary conditions for anisotropic materials (monoclinic materials with the symmetry plane at x1=0, x2=0), piezoelectric materials,…

- To derive the transfer matrices for anisotropic elastic materials.

- Using the obtained effective boundary conditions to study of the reflection and refraction of elastic waves in layered media.

- Using the obtained transfer matrices and the effective boundary condition method to derive formula for the horizontal-to-vertical displacement in elastic half-spaces coated by thin elastic layers.

- To develop the incompressible limit method for monoclinic materials with the symmetry plane at x1=0, x2=0, x3=0.
