11. Summary of new findings of the PhD thesis:

In theoretical terms:

Inheriting the theoretical basis on credit and student credit, the PhD thesis clarified the role of student credit policy; systematized, analyzed and evaluated the effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability of student credit policies as well as the influence factors on student loan decisions basing on the survey results at VNU member universities. On that basis, the PhD thesis proposed solutions to improve the credit policy for Vietnamese students.

In practical terms:

The PhD thesis developed a model to analyze the influence factors on student loan decisions and proposed 2 groups of solutions on some recommendations to improve the credit policy for Vietnamese students basing on the loan needs of the students, not on the demand to give loans and loan conditions of credit institutions. The recommendations to the authorities are policy suggestions related to higher education innovation in Vietnam.

12. Practical applicability:

The research results of the PhD thesis are feasible and close to the real situation, in details as follows:

+ For macro-policymakers on finance for higher education: An useful source of reference, contributing to the development and improvement of the policies on tuition fees and financial autonomy for higher education to strengthen financial resources for public universities in Vietnam.

+ For higher education institutions: Diversifying the forms of training with different qualities corresponding to the different levels of tuition fees; Increasing tuition fees corresponding to the increase in training quality, better meeting the needs of the society.

+ For learners: partly solve the financial burden for university students, helping learners to access different majors with different levels of tuition fees.

13. Further research directions:

Continue to study the influence factors on financial investment in education in order to have appropriate proposals on strengthening financial resources for each group off universities with different characteristics.
