11. Summary of dissertation:

  (1) Chinese and Vietnamese are both isolating languages. They rely on the order of words and adjectives to express grammatical meanings, so when examining the order of verbs and their semantic components or verbs and their modifiers, a lot of similarities in the two languages are found, for example:

 - Regarding the order of verbs and their semantic components: in two languages, the tri-verbs or bi-verbs must use prepositions to derive their semantic components. The position of prepositions and semantic components such as places, tools... are located before the verbs. The time components regularly do not use prepositions and can be placed before or after the execution component but must be before the verb, the result expression and the passive component usually come after verbs.

- About the order of the verbs and their complementary components: in two languages, there are many similarities: the verbs come before modifier representing result, the modifier indicating number, the modifier showing trends; verbs usually stay after the modifier indicating frequency, the modifier showing status; when the verb is combined with a modifier indicating status and a modifier indicating level, the verb can be preceded or followed by the modifier.

(2) Although the two languages belong to the isolating language type, verb phase order in the two languages is not the same in every case. They show cross-linking cases with many differences, for example:

 - In Vietnamese, prepositions and semantic components such as places, tools may come after verbs, but in modern Chinese this order does not exist.

  - After examining the verb order when they come with semantic components and modifiers, many typical orders are found that prove that Chinese is a language with negative structure while Vietnamese have a positive structure.

 - The two languages are in the same type of isolating language, but each language still has its own linguistic characteristics, which leads to differences in word order of the two languages. In addition, it can be seen that the Chinese verb phrases, prepositions and auxiliary verbs are used to link verbs to semantic components and modifiers with a higher frequency of use in Vietnamese.

(3) In addition to the normal order, the dissertation investigated and compared the order of special verb phrases in two languages, such as verb phrase indicating existence, the passive verb phrase, and some phenomenon of changing word order. Basically there are many similarities, but they are also very different because in Chinese this kind of order is specific but in Vietnamese that kind of order is normal.

(4) Many cases of the regular verb order and the specific verb order of the two languages are subject to the semantic component convention.

12. Practical applicability

- The results of the research contribute to providing a theoretical and practical basis for the issue of comparing Chinese with Vietnamese, firstly the verb phrase order.

- The research results can be applied to the process of researching and teaching Chinese language, especially in teaching Chinese grammar.
