11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- For the first time, the systematic and hydrodynamic characteristic, such as water environment and aquatic elements, of Truong Giang river, Quang Nam province have been studied;

- Determined and calculated the main pollution load released from waste sources into Truong Giang river, and simulated seasonal changes in term of water quality of Truong Giang river in the base year (2017) and forecast to the future (2030);

- Evaluated the pollution carrying capacity, the relationship between aquatic biodiversity and water quality, the ability to restore the environment and biodiversity, proposed orientations for reasonable exploitation and use solutions for Truong Giang river.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

- Systematically and scientifically provided the environmental carrying capacity of Truong Giang river, Quang Nam province, as a basis for general planning and planning of the exploitation and use of Truong Giang river as well as pollution control and environmental protection, socio-economic development in Truong Giang river region and the surrounding area;

- Research results on environmental carrying capacity of Truong Giang river, Quang Nam province allowed to supplement practical basis, contributing to systematizing and perfect the process of studying environmental load capacity for river basins in Vietnam.

13. Further research directions, if any:

- Experimental research on determining the purification ability of Truong Giang river due to the decomposition of organic matter in water, photosynthesis of plants, material deposition and biological filtration of aquatic organisms.

- Additional research on the impact of climate change on the environmental carrying capacity of Truong Giang river, research on environmental functional zoning and solutions to regulate Truong Giang river to improve environmental carrying capacity on the basis of the law of succession and change;

- Completing processes and methods of studying environmental carrying capacity for river water bodies in coastal areas.
