VNU and AUS (America) cooperate in Sustainable Science
VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn had a working meeting with Arizona State University Vice President Kent R. Hopkin on February 24th, 2014.

At the working meeting, the two sides discussed following contents: studying in the international programs of VNU; exploring  cooperation opportunities between the two universities and initiating Arizona State University’s project entitled “Cooperation  between the Mekong downstream region through education and training”.   

 

VNU and Arizona State University signed the agreement on cooperation in 2009. Since then, the two sides have carried out a number of cooperative activities such as studying climate change-related issues; providing the lessons on water resources and climate change; cooperating with the VNU College of Education to  build up a training project and enhancing the management capability of VNU’s leaders.

 

Speaking at the meeting, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn expressed his wish for the further expanding the cooperation between the two universities in the coming time through  specific activities such as: exchanging students and staffs, organizing summer programs for students; cooperating in MA programs of Sustainable Science. Additionally, VNU Vice President also hoped that Arizona State University will support VNU in training lecturers and young scientists in the new research areas.

 

 

Vice President  Kent R. Hopkins said that  the duration of the MA program of Sustainable Science of Arizona State University is 20 months and this program has many similarities with that of Vietnam. Therefore, Arizona State University is willing to establish the cooperation in this academic field with VNU as well as support the training of young scientists and co-organize  summer courses and exchange programs for students with VNU.
