11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
This dissertation is the first research in Vietnam which focuses on the penetration of the English East India Company into Southeast Asia.
By recapitulating the EIC’s penetration into Southeast Asia, this dissertation points out the characteristics of the English conquering and ruling of the Oriental colonies.
By systemizing the EIC’s penetration into Southeast Asia since the early 17th century, this dissertation analyzes in detail the English typical feature in conquering and colonizing the Southeast Asian countries in order to explain the difference of strength and size between the English empire and the other European powers in the Orient.
Based on a detailed analysis of the EIC’s penetration and activities in the East, this dissertation highlights the influence of the colonial regime upon the Southeast Asian countries in term of development.
This dissertation also points out the English influence on some aspects of the Southeast Asian history, especially on the formation of today borderlines in this region.
