11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The thesis has focused on studying all matters related to the literary texts: the general characteristics of literary texts, studying literary texts in the methodologies of foreign language teaching in general and approaches of this texts type under new reception theory, which make French teaching more effective via literary texts. The thesis seeks to overcome the difficulties of teachers in the exploitation of literary texts in French classes.

Thesis research with quantitative pointed out the trouble spots of the teachers in the exploitation of literary texts, thereby equipping them with effective tools to approach literary texts in most effective may. Specifically, the study has resulted in several important conclusions:

- It’s difficult to exploit literary texts due to its specific characteristics compared to the other texts types. Literary of this texts type made lecturers reluctant to approach and have prejudice that it’s hard to attract students.

- The lecturers find difficult to exploit literary texts due to some reasons: their lack of exploiting tools (they don’t know how to read literary texts), their lack of social and cultural knowledge, students are not interested in literature and the lecturers have not seen the benefits of literary texts in developing students’ writing skill

- To improve this situation, the thesis focuses on providing the different approaches of literary texts in French curriculums, illustrating how to exploit this texts type in Alter Ego curriculum as well as pointing out appropriate activities after literary texts exploitation in order to develop writing and speaking skill of students.

12. Practical applicability:

The research result of the thesis can be applied in teaching of practicing language through the French literary text in order that this texts type with many advantages is not ignored in the program of teaching and learning of Faculties of French in Vietnam.

- Translate literary extracts in French textbooks.
