7. Official thesis title: “Quantitative Analysis of selected active ingredients in antibiotics tablets by infrared spectra combined with multivariate linear regression”

8. Major: Analytical Chemistry                                                    9. Code: 62 44 01 18

10. Supervisors: Assoc. Prof., Dr. Ta Thi Thao,

      Dr. Bui Xuan Thanh.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- The suitable conditions of infrared spectroscopy for the determination of  quantify antibiotic active ingredients in the drug has been studied.

- PCR and PLS algorithm have been successfully used to determine an antibiotic active ingredient (cefixime, sulfaguanidine) and concurrently quantified a number of antibiotics in the same group including sulfaguanidine, sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprime; Cephalexine, cefaclor and cefadroxil; Penicilline, ampiciline and amoxiciline; Cefotaxime and ceftriaxon; Cefixim and cefadroxil.

- The method has been validated and applied for the analysis of phamarceutical tablet and powdered samples.

12. Paratical applicability, if any:  This process allows for a non-destructive analysis of the sample, without the use of toxic and fast solvents, and results in appropriate screening of raw materials and rapid analysis of drug products.

13. Further research directions, if any: It is possible to use the established procedures to determine any substances in the drug using the appropriate multivariate regression model based on the infrared data. This is the initial results for developing of software on handheld devices. Open up new research directions on more complex objects such as functional foods, biological samples and foods.
