11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- The thesis investigates characteristics of explicit evaluation expressions through trends of using prevalent value-laden words, semantic elements and structure models; identifies signs, characteristics and trends of using implicit evaluation expressions; indicates characteristics of evaluations under the influence of two social factors (topics and power).

- The thesis identifies and analyzes signs of positive-negative evaluations; evaluation scales and topics; indicates evaluation tendencies in terms of scales and topics in the relations of these variables and judges’ decisions.

- The thesis examines power levels through lexical devices such as: addressing forms, illocutionary force indicating devices, code-switching; discursive means such as: interruptions, word amounts, evaluation coordinations, analyzes the manifestations of three types of power namely: legitimate, reference, expert.

- Through making a reference to English data, the thesis verifies the evaluation characteristics in Vietnamese as well as finds out several similarities and differences in Vietnamese and English language of evaluation.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The research results can help to improve communication effectiveness, especially in evaluating environments; The survey results in reference to English can become materials to learn English; Findings on signs of explicit evaluations, semantic elements of evaluation structures, value parameter, evaluation scales may serve to develop frameworks to anlyze evaluations in feedbacks, comments, suggestions, and so on; to study language of evaluation in artificial intelligence.

13. Further research directions, if any: 

Research language of evaluation in other contexts, investigate semantic structures of emotion language in Vietnamese, research evaluations basing on other parameters, study to build frameworks to analyze evaluative feedbacks and study basing on other social factors affecting evaluative communication.
