At the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation possibilities and activities including scientific research exchange, staff/students exchange and joint training programs.
As an Australia’s leading university, ANU is listed in the group of 8 world’s most prestigious universities by the QS World University Rankings and is the only Australian member in the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU).
ANU has seven academic colleges, with ANU College of Asia & the Pacific focusing on the Asia and Pacific region. With its excellent teaching and research achievements in numerous scientific disciplines, ANU College of Asia & the Pacific has been recognized as a leading college of international standards. Its training program diversifies in various majors of Business, Economics, Law, Information Technology, Sciences, Asian and Pacific research, Computer Science and Mechanics, Arts and Social Sciences, etc.
Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan hoped that ANU would send some graduate students majoring in linguistics to teach English for VNU students who are following the training programs in English. Besides, staff exchange to improve teaching standards, English ability and cultural exchange should also be in focus.
Prof. Eric Lithander expressed his pleasure to cooperate with VNU and stated that the model of short-term training programs or summer programs were essential and useful for both staff and student of the two universities. ANU agreed to send staff to help improve VNU students’ English ability. Besides, to promote the partnership, Prof. Eric Lithander suggested that VNU should open some English programs on Economics, Natural Sciences or Social Sciences for ANU students.
Also, the two sides further discussed the cooperation activities and the plan for the MoU.
