Konichiwa! I am Trần Thị Thanh Hương, a VJU-MBA 5th intake student. It is believed that our life changes the moment we make a new, congruent, and committed decision. And one year ago I chose MBA at VJU among other top universities to pursue my master degree. Let me share with you honestly what my experience is in VJU.

After graduating from UEB-VNU, I spent one and a half year working in the technology field. This made me realize that the world is changing faster than we can imagine and each of us has to learn new things for a sustainable future. The eagerness for knowledge led me to VJU which were branded as an international education environment with the philosophy of liberal arts.

After almost one academic year, I can state that I have had the opportunity to study in a high-quality university, especially to absorb the cultural, spiritual, disciplined and scientific thinking values of the Japanese. VJU can bring me the starting point to achieve my own future goals.

The MBA program is one of 8 master programmes at VJU with consultation, deep participation and coordination from Yokohama National University. It means we have chances to study with numerous YNU eminent professors. Generally, there are one Vietnamese professor and one Japanese professor who take charge of one course together. As a result, we, as students, can get more point of views into one problem and it broadens our minds so much.

One of the things that I value most in VJU is that Japanese teachers are very strict about how to submit on time. Whatever the reasons are, students have to try to complete it on time. This practice promotes discipline and also ensure fairness to other students.

A lot of activities (and deadlines as well)! The classes are not followed the traditional teaching method which is lecture and recitation. However, we spend time discussing, doing projects, group work, presentation and other more interacting, student-based of teaching approaches. In the rush to meet the deadline, students stick together and this process brings fun and dynamism. Everyone enjoy together.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam from last year, we still can come to university at some times and join onsite classes besides online ones. Staff are so active, young and enthusiastic when organizing activities to connect students based on both Vietnamese and Japanese cultures.

So far, I believe devoting two years to enrich knowledge, get insight into the Japanese educational system, develop professional individuality and experience the student’s life in VJU is an extremely worthy experience.
