Contestants from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students win two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2022 Asia – Pacific Informatics Olympiad
On June 1, 2022, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, all seven Vietnamese students participating in the 2022 Asia–Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) won prizes including three gold medals and 4 silver ones.

The participants from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students won two gold medals and a silver medal.

The 2022 Asia–Pacific Informatics Olympiad was hosted by Egypt in the form of an online competition. The Vietnamese team comprising 15 contestants, took the online exam at VNU University of Engineering and Technology on May 28 – 29.

The gold medalists were Duong Minh Khoi, a 12th grader and Tran Xuan Bach, an 11th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted students; Truong Van Quoc, a 12th grader from Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students, Nghe An province.

Silver medals were given to Nguyen Nhat Minh, a 12th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students; Vu Huy Hoang, a 12th grader from Ha Long High School for Gifted Students, Quang Ninh province; Tran Khoi Nguyen, a 12th grader from High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education; Le Huu Nghia, a 12th grader from Binh Long High School for Gifted Students, Binh Phuoc province.

This is the best-ever performance achieved by Vietnamese students over the past 10 years of participation in the Olympiad.

At APIO 2022, 186 out of 888 contestants from 35 countries and territories won 17 gold medals, 74 silver medals and 95 bronze medals; and six out of 35 participating countries and territories won gold medals, namely China (6), Russia (5), Vietnam (3), Singapore (1), South Korea (1), and Chinese Taipei (1).
