VNU – VJU: 2021 Opening Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony

On October 30, 2021, Vietnam Japan University held an opening ceremony for the Bachelor's programs (Intake 1 of Computer Science & Engineering program, Intake 2 of Japanese Studies program) and Master's programs (Intake 5 and 6). After that, VJU held a Graduation and Master’s Degree Award Ceremony for students of Intake 4 (some of Intake 2 and Intake 3). On the day of the event, with a view to preventing the spread of the Coronavirus, the ceremony was held in a classroom on the university campus, and by setting a limit on the number of visitors, most of the guests from both Japan and Vietnam participated online. However, more than 100 people participated in both ceremonies.

At the Opening ceremony, VJU received a video message from H.E. Mr. Tsutomu Takebe, Special Advisor of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, H.E. Mr. Takio Yamada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, and Professor Masatoshi Ishikawa, former Vice President of the University of Tokyo. At Vietnam Japan University, words of encouragement were sent to new students, hoping that they would hone their ability to create new value and become a pioneer in the post-corona era.

At both ceremonies, there is a total of 95 students in 2 bachelor's programs, 65 students enrolled in 8 master's programs (Area Studies, Business Administration, Climate Change and Development, Infrastructure Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Nanotechnology, Public Policy, Global Leadership), and 59 graduates were awarded diplomas.

At the Degree Conferral Ceremony, Mr. Daisuke Okabe, Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, and Mr. Shuhei Miura, Vietnam Business Planning Chief of Mitani Sangyo Co., Ltd., who lectured on the Industry Collaboration Course at VJU, gave congratulations.

Some of the VJU graduates who have passed the government scholarship for international students will pursue doctoral degrees in Japan, and some graduates who have got an official job offer from a Japanese company are expected to become a bridge between Japan and Vietnam in the future.
