On April 25, 2017, Lotte Group held the 19th Lotte Scholarship Award Ceremony for 78 students with excellent academic achievements from 8 universities in Hanoi, including 18 students from Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Each scholarship is worth US$200.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Park Sang Sik, said that Korea and Vietnam had been promoting collaboration in many fields, such as politics, economics, society, culture and education. This year, the two countries are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He hoped that the scholarship would not only help Vietnamese students in their studies, but would also foster the friendship between Vietnam and Korea. He also expected the students, with their enthusiasm and creativity, to strive even more in the future.

Lotte Coralis Director General Baek Woon Jae said that the Lotte Scholarship Foundation was established in 1983 by President Shin Gyuk Ho. He hoped that the scholarship would be a motivation for the students to pursuit their ambitions. Referring to Great President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, he also advised the students to look further and beyond to reach humanity’s endless knowledge.

Expressing her honor and pleasure to receive the scholarship, Nguyễn Thị Hợp – a final year student from VNU University of Social Science and Humanities, said that besides in-class and self-study, she got experience and success through part-time jobs and actively communicating with others in Korean.

Nguyễn Thị Minh Hằng, a third year student from VNU University of Economics and Business, always thought that she had to make efforts in her study in order to find a good job in the future. Therefore, she always studies hard and applies for different scholarship programs. She also tries to improve her foreign language (English), soft and other necessary skills.

The Lotte Foundation Fund was established in 1983. Its scholarship is given to students from disadvantaged families with high academic and research achievements. In 2008, the Lotte Foundation Fund first came to Vietnam and by means of significant scholarships, it has become a trusted companion for outstanding students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
