6. Changes in academic process:

Extension decision No. 596/QĐ-ĐHKHTN date on 06/3/2018 and Decision No. 4728/QĐ-ĐHKHTN date on 28/12/2018,  signed by the Rector of VNU University of Science;

7. Official thesis title: Study on the distribution of 210Po in sea water, sediment, and clam (Meretrix meretrix), oyters (Crassostrea gigas) along the Northern coastal region.

8. Major: Soil and Aquatic Environment                          9. Code: 9440301.02

10. Supervisors:            Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duy Cam

                                    Dr. Dang Duc Nhan

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

-  It’s the first time to create data set of background activity concentration of 210Po in seawater, sediment and clam (M. meretrix), oysters (C. gigas) and some kinds of food in Gulf of Tonkin, Viet Nam (Thai Binh province, Hai Phong city, and Quang Ninh province).

- To determine the distribution coefficient of Kd of 210Po between seawater and sediment phases with specifics of the Gulf of Tonkin seawater coastal; and estimate Concentration Factor (CF) of 210Po for clam (M. meretrix) and oysters (C. gigas).

- To estimate the contribution rate of 210Po radionuclide to the average annual committed effective dose for adults in the Red River delta region due to ingest food types.

12. Practical application:

- To develop the data background of activity concentration of 210Po in seawater, sediment and clam (M. meretrix), oysters (C. gigas) and some kinds of food in Thai Binh province, Hai Phong city, and Quang Ninh province.

- It’s primary to clarify the distribution behavior of 210Po in coastal seawater environment by determining Kd coefficient of 210Po between seawater and sediment phases; To evaluate the 210Po bioaccumulation of clam (M. meretrix) and oysters (C. gigas) by the Concentration Factor (CF). Considering some of environmental factors that effect on distribution behavior of 210Po in coastal seawater environment and biology concentration factor 210Po off clam (M. meretrix), oysters (C. gigas), such as DOC, salinity, Cl- and pH.

- To estimate the contribution rate of 210Po radionuclide to the average annual committed effective dose for adults in the Red River delta region due to ingest food types.

13. Further research directions, if any:

- To research the distribution and bioaccumulation of 210Po in offshore of territorial waters of Vietnam, focusing on the high commercial seafood types.

- To continue researching in the other coastal areas of Viet Nam to gather enough data base for running the radioactivity dispersion model for warning when China nuclear plant may be happen accident.
