Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to establish the High School for gifted students in Social Sciences and Humanities under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Thus, the High School becomes the 4th of this kind under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in addition to the High School of gifted students in Natural Sciences (under the University of Natural Sciences), High School for gifted students in Foreign Languages (under the University of Languages and International Studies) and High School for gifted students in Education Science (under University of Education).
According to the decision, the High School for gifted students in Social Sciences and Humanities is a public training institution in the national education system and the system of high schools in Hanoi.
