According to the approved task, VNU Vietnam - Japan University will be built in 2 zones. Zone 1 is located within VNU Hoa Lac campus with a planned area of 56.27 hectares, including 51.45 hectares of project land area and 4.82 hectares of common traffic land area, and a projected student body of about 5,000 by 2032.
Specifically, Zone 1 borders Route 12 and Dormitory 4 of VNU in its north; Route 11, VNU University of Science and VNU research institutes in its south; VNU dormitory compound and National highway 21 in its east; and Routes 5, 9 and the central park in its west.
This planning task is aimed at four main goals: 1) Concretizing the adjustment to the 1/2000-scale detailed construction plan of Hoa Lac-based VNU approved by the Ministry of Construction under Decision 1267/QD-BXD dated October 21, 2014; 2) Planning to exploit the land resources in accordance with the general planning of the region and the development strategy of VNU Vietnam - Japan University in the future; 3) Investing in the building of VNU Vietnam - Japan University to meet the need of modern facilities and technical equipment; create favorable conditions for an advanced university governance model; contribute to the development of an international standard university in Vietnam in interdisciplinary sciences and advanced technology; contribute to the implementation of the development strategy of VNU; and, increase competitive factors for Vietnam's knowledge economy as well as make an important contribution to the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan; and 4) Creating a legal basis for the implementation of investment and development projects of VNU Vietnam -Japan University; and the construction management according to the approved detailed planning.
VNU has been assigned to assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant units in formulating a 1/500-scale detailed construction planning project of VNU Vietnam - Japan University - Zone 1, allocating capital sources and approving the total construction cost according to the current relevant regulations. The time for designing the intended planning project shall not exceed 6 months from the date of the planning task’s approval.
