11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- This is a complete, systematic scientific work of classification and has selected the appropriate classification system for Berberidaceae Juss. in Vietnam.

- The first time 5 additional species were recorded for the Vietnamese flora: Mahonia duclouxiana, M. hancockiana, M. subimbricata, M. jingxiensis and M. retinervis.

- Combining DNA markers with morphology in taxonomy Berberidaceae in Vietnam to confirm the close relationship between taxons and assist in identifying scientific names of species difficult to distinguish by morphological characteristics.

- To propose conservation solutions for existing Berberidaceae species in Vietnam. Analyze and assess the conservation status and propose new levels of classification according to IUCN 2010 for 5 newly recorded species of Mahonia genus to add new flora to Vietnam. In addition, a new classification framework according to IUCN 2010 for known Berberidaceae species is also updated.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

- Be the basis for publishing of Berberidaceae in the Flora of Vietnam.

- Application for researching on conservation and medicinal use of Berberidaceae species in Vietnam.

13. Further research directions, if any:

- Monitoring and assessing the conservation status of Berberidaceae species in Vietnam, especially for newly added species to the Vietnamese flora.

- Researching on conservation and medicinal value of species of Berberidaceae in Vietnam.
