11. Summary of the new finddings of the Thesis:
The first time, the fresh groundwater in the sandy coastal zone of Quang Binh was assessed a general, systematic and relatively quantified by processing abundant documents, conducting extensive surveys and additional studying on conditons of aquifer formation, potential exploitation reserves as well as quality of groundwater. The received results are as follow:
Groundwater is formed mainly from rain water with ratio of 15-16% of total annual rainfall. Potential exploitation reserve of groundwater in coastal sandy area is over 1,850,000 m3/day, formed mainly from dynamic nature reserve of 1,781,000 m3/day (95%) and static reserve of 68,000 m3/day (5%). Groundwater is divided into 2 seasons in which 77% of reserve is formed from rainy season.
On the whole study area, most of groundwater is derived  from  rainwater, but some small area in the estuary, that is sea water. The formation of quality of groundwater is depended on  mainly , soil washing process, ion exchange, a mix of rainwater, groundwater and sea water. Ground water consists of three main chemical forms, such as chloride forms - distributed mainly along estuary and adjacent sea area under aluvi sediment and the aluvi-marine sediment and have weak alkalinity; bicacbonate forms - distributed in depressions on the ground under the aluvi-marine sediments; and mixed forms - distributed in the largest area, under aluvi-marine, marine sediments and neutral. Other criteria of groundwater are observed within permissible limits for domestic supply purpose. Overall, groundwater has good quality and likely to use for domestic supply purpose and socio-economic development.
Based on characteristics of distribution, division of terrain and potential groundwater, the study area is divided into 5 area followed watershed including Roon, Gianh, Ly Hoa, Dinh and Nhat Le Rivers. Each above area includes  4 sub-area, namely hill area, delta, sandy coastal dune, and coastal estuary. On the basis, the exploiting orientation effective and suitable ultility of fresh groundwater by technological solution, water - degradation prevention and investigation, sustainable water source development and management are proposed.
12. Practical applicability, if any:
The results of Thesis will be apply to orient for exploitation, utilization and planning for water supply for sandy coastal area of Quang Binh and other similar condition areas
13. Further research direction, if any:
