7. Official thesis title: Applying Limiting-Antigen Avidity EIA and False Recent Rate for estimating HIV incidence on some high risk groups in Vietnam.
8. Major: Microbiology 9. Code: 62 42 01 07
10. Supervisors: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan & Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy
11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
The False Recent Rate were confirmed by using BED-CEIA and LAg-Avidity assay: False Recent Rate (FRR) of BED – CEIA is 1,7% (95 CI: (1,2-2,4) and False Recent Rate of LAg-Avidity is 1,2% (95 CI: 0,8-1,9).
Applying False Recent Rate for estimating HIV incidence in some high risk groups in Vietnam:
12. Paratical applicability, if any: Ministry of Health (MOH) in Vietnam intend to apply LAg-Avidity in HIV Sentinel Surveillance program (including 20 provinces) for finding the “hot sites” that transmit HIV infection; Pre-exposure prophylaxis for partner of HIV infection person giving them a good intervention in high risk groups.. MOH Vietnam also made a plan applying LAg-Avidity in the national strategy for diagnosing HIV infection.
13. Further research directions, if any:
- Collecting data of HIV incidence for creating a new HIV diagnostic strategy that suitable to Vietnam situation (WHO/UNAIDS recommendation).
- Validating HIV incidence quick test assay- Asante Recency (developing from LAg-Avidity) for conducting HIV test easier in fields.
