11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

 Analysis of a large number of indefinite pronouns and adverbs with affixes -то, -нибудь, -либо, кое- in Russian literary works allows us to come to the following main conclusions:

The indefinite category in Russian is represented by many means at different linguistic levels: lexical, morphological, syntactic.

In all research works, indefinite pronouns and adverbs are recorded, however this group of words is used with low frequency, mainly from 0.2%-0.5% of the total number of words.

Indefinite pronouns and adverbs with the affix -то are most used to express indefinite meaning. In the majority of research works, this group of words is used with high frequency (1204/1656 examples, corresponding to 72.7%).

In Russian language, the affixes -то, -нибудь, -либо, кое- have different shades of indefiniteness but they are often translated into Vietnamese by completely similar equivalents with the following words: nào, nào đó, nào đấy, gì, gì đó, gì đấy, một, các, mấy, mọi, một vài, những, vài, equivalents with the word có.

When indefinite pronouns and adverbs with -то, -нибудь, -либо, кое- strongly express their characteristic meaning, the named earlier means can not clearly show this. In those cases pronouns and adverbs with the affix -то are successfully translated into Vietnamese by equivalent không nhớ là…, while pronouns and adverbs with affix -нибудь/-либо are usually translated by equivalents bất kỳ, bất cứ, …nào cũng được.

Among the investigated works, only a small percentage of the indefinite pronouns and adverbs are not translated into Vietnamese. Despite this, translators are nevertheless able to convey to Vietnamese readers the original's thoughts.

Also, there are instances where the removal of indefinite pronouns and adverbs results in a faulty, erroneous transfer of the original. Such occurrences are quite uncommon, nevertheless, based on our experience.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The results of the research can be exploited to design a course in which the focus is to help learners of Russian language understand how the indefinite pronouns and adverbs with affixes -то, -нибудь, -либо, кое- are used, and the ways they are translated into Vietnamese.

The results of the dissertation work serve as a solid theoretical basis for compiling textbooks and manuals on the grammar of the Russian language.

13. Further research directions, if any:

The indefinite category in Russian is expressed at different linguistic levels. At each linguistic level, this category is expressed by many different means. The research thesis only focuses on the lexical level (indefinite pronouns and adverbs with affixes -то, -нибудь, -либо, кое-). In the future, we may continue to study other lexical units denoting indefinite meanings in the Russian language.
