- The thesis has been extended 2 years basing on decision numbered 113/QĐ-XHNV dated January 15th, 2016 and decision numbered 4617/ QĐ-XHNV dated December 29th, 2016 signed by the president of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

- The thesis title has been modified in accordance with decision numbered 2963/ QĐ-XHNV dated November 14th, 2017 signed by the president of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

11. Summary of a new findings of the thesis:

The thesis has described in details all expressing means of “obligatory” and “permissive” deontic modality in English and Vietnamese Commercial Correspondence from 3 aspects: syntax, semantics and pragmatics.

The thesis has contrasted these expressing means to find out identify similarities and differences.

The thesis has also briefly explained the similarities and differences basing on the characteristics of linguistics, cultures and text types.

12. Practical applicability:

Compiling supplementary materials for Vietnamse students who study Commercial correspondence at Vietnam’s universities.

Applying in studying, teaching, writing and analysing Vietnamese and English commercial correspondences.

13. Further research directions: Studying about expressing means of deontic modality in English and Vietnamese Commercial correspondences from cross-cultural aspects.
