11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

It assessed the causes, processes and trends of degradation and vulnerability to agricultural land resources as consequences of natural factors and human activity in Son La province.

Proposing a number of economical cropping systems that is environmental sustainable for maize, coffee and orchard through theoretical research and field trial.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The results of the study contribute to propose a number of solutions to the effective use of agricultural land resources in Son La area.

Land use options that are economical, social and environmental efficiency, adoptable to local knowledge.

13. Further research directions, if any

Further research on measures to improve soil fertility.

Two land use options reducing soil erosion can be applied in a larger scale.
