11. Summary of the new findings of the dissertation

- Based on the "area-studies" theories, the thesis has provided some arguments to study the impact of tourism on socio-economic development in the study area.

- The thesis has analyzed the current impact of tourism on socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province as well as on the lives of local people in the three study sites, namely Uong Bi city (Thuong Yen Cong commune), Ha Long city (Bai Chay ward) and Mong Cai city (Tran Phu and Tra Co wards).

- The thesis has outlined the impact trend of tourism on socio-economy and proposed some recommendations to promote the positive impacts and to limit the negative impacts of tourist development activities on socio-economic development in Quang Ninh province.

12. Applicability: The analysis data of the thesis is so reliable that brings valuable recommendations and proposals for the tourism management and tourism business.

13. Further research directions: Further indept study can be carried out on the correlation between different tourism business models and socio-economic development, people's livelihood; expanding the scope of research to some areas where tourism has been developing rapidly in Quang Ninh such as Hung Thang ward (Ha Long city), Co To, Quan Lan (Van Don district), etc.
