VNU and Fulbright: Strengthening cultural and educational cooperation.
On April 2nd, 2014, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức had a working meeting with Mr. Matthew McMahon - Head of the Fulbright Program Managing Department in the East Asia and Pacific Area and Ms. Vũ Quỳnh Nga – Director of the Fulbright Program in Vietnam.

At the meeting, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức suggested that apart from providing scholarships for students and exchanging staffs and lecturers, VNU wishes to receive the support from the Fullbright Program’s experts to VNU Journal of Vietnam Studies. He hoped that Fulbright’s experts will take part in the Editorial Board to promote the image and trademark of  Vietnam in general and of  VNU in particular.

Mr Matthew McMahon said that the Fulbright Program is willing to send its experts to work and support VNU’s programs. Besides, Fulbright also provides experts and scholar programs as well as foreign language teaching assistant programs and full scholarships for Master program with the aim of strengthening mutual understanding through the cultural and educational exchange.

 The Fulbright Program is proposed and approved by Senator J. William Fulbright since 1946, under the management of the Department of Culture and Education Issues of the United States Department of State. Through 60 years of its operation, the program has more than 310.000 members, in which  120.000 members are from US and 190.000 members are from other countries. Every year, the Fulbright Program provides 8000 scholarships and now it is found present in more than 155 countries in the world. The Fulbright Program in Vietnam was established since 1992 with the aim of strengthening cultural and educational cooperation through academic exchange.

The Fulbright Program encourages social science and humanities sectors such as aesthetics, education, communications, journalism, international relations, social work, public policy, economics, business, community health, library, public administration management, public policy, English teaching, gender and women studies./.
