Alternate member of the Party’s Central Committee, VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ joined the Governmental delegation in this visit.
In the context of prospective progress in the relations between Vietnam and Russia, this visit is expected to open a new development period in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the visit, the two sides discussed the directions and ways to promote mutual cooperation in various fields, namely politics, economics and trade, national defence and public security, education and training; review the cooperation results and promote the implementation of major projects in nuclear energy and oil and gas; accelerate the negotiation process to reach a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan; discuss new cooperation prospects in higher education or using universal space for the purpose of peace, etc.
On this occasion, at the Palace of Russian’s Prime Minister, VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ and Lomonosov Moscow State University Rector Viktor A. Sadovnichy signed an MoU on science and education cooperation between the two universities under the witness of the two Prime Ministers and the Governmental delegations of both countries.
Apart from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, during the time in Russia, VNU delegation of senior officials led by President Phùng Xuân Nhạ paid a working visit to Moscow Linguistics University, Kuban National University (in Krasnodar province), Moscow Government Technical University (MGTU), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MFTI) and Center for Information Technology and Systems (CITIS) (for developing the internet security program), as well as some other training and research institutions.
