At the reception, the two sides discussed upcoming cooperation agreements, especially, the implementation of VNU’s programs on its Hòa Lạc campus.

VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ wished to cooperate with Shimadzu Corporation in building a national centre for environment and food safety verification in an area of ​​about 5 hectares on VNU’s Hòa Lạc campus. This is a public-private partnership (PPP) with a time frame as follows: intensive research followed by product development and ended up with trial production.

In addition, President Phùng Xuân Nhạ requested Shimadzu Corporation together with other VNU’s partners to supply equipment for VNU’s project in Hòa Lạc to conduct academic and commercial research.

Mr. Yasumitsu Takagi said that Shimadzu Corporation would not only provide VNU with the needed equipment but also assist it in training engineers in properly operating that equipment. Mr. Yasumitsu Takagi also wished the approved cooperative activities to be soon implemented. President Phùng Xuân Nhạ affirmed: "Recently, VNU and Shimadzu Corporation have had extensive cooperation. VNU strongly believes in the leadership of Shimadzu Corporation. Hopefully, in the time to come, VNU and Shimadzu Corporation will have more long-term partnerships, contributing to the strengthening of the good relations between Vietnam and Japan".

Cooperation with Japan is currently one of the top VNU’s priorities. The cooperative activities between VNU and Japanese partners are very effectively implemented, benefiting both parties, while enhancing mutual understanding and reinforcing the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in the fields of education, training and research.
