On May 17, 2019, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) launched the designing of an Entrepreneurship course for undergraduates. On this occasion, VNU Centre for Enabling Startups and Knowledge Transfer, FUNiX Online University (under FPT Education), Hanoi Young Entrepreneurs' Association, and the Youth Startup Support Centre (under Vietnam Central Youth Union) signed a MoU on jointly designing the course.

Prof.Dr.Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc – Director of VNU Academic Affairs, said that, in the trend of university 4.0, innovation-based entrepreneurship culture was established. In fact, VNU always pays great attention to developing an entrepreneurial university or innovation-driven university.

The introduction of Entrepreneurship into the existing curriculum will help students improve their knowledge, raise their awareness of entrepreneurship as well as shape their core ideas and values for starting up in business.

The VNU Entrepreneurship course aims at introducing entrepreneurship knowledge to all students, connecting students and young people to enterprises to gain experience to prepare for the labour market. The course is expected to be delivered in the traditional classroom blended with online teaching through the Learning Management System (LMS).

VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai said that putting the spirit of innovation or entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum was not only to have more and more student startups, but also to help students build and enhance their teamwork skills, time management, financial management, inclusive thinking, critical thinking, communication skills - listening to others, the spirit of accepting failure, trial and error.

However, VNU Vice President also said, it was necessary not to conduct more and more start-up classes, but to create an innovative teaching environment, establish close links between universities and businesses to provide students with more space to experiment what they had learned in solving real life problems.

Previously, VNU’s units and member universities had developed the infrastructure for startup and innovation activities as well as organized many events associated with entrepreneurship.
