The thesis has completed specified research objectives and has the main outcomes as follows:
- Having done the research on the theoretical and practical basis of the planning Japan’s policies towards the ASEAN in the period of 2001-2016.
- Having clarified the content and implementation of Japan’s policies towards the ASEAN in the period of 2001-2016.
- Having clarified the characteristics of the Japan’s policies towards the ASEAN in this period.
- Having assessed the results and impacts of the Japan’s policies towards the Southeast Asia, ASEAN and Vietnam in the period of 1992-2016.
- Having done the research into possible policy prospects of Japan to the ASEAN in the coming years.
- Having suggested some suitable policies to Vietnam in the relations with the two important partners (Japan and the ASEAN).

The thesis may be used as a reference document in teaching and research in respect of the international relations, Japan and foreign policies.
