At the reception, VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ expressed his great pleasure in welcoming two major Chinese universities to VNU. The parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of Chinese Language and Culture as well as the expansion of cooperation in the fields of Social Sciences & Humanities and Medicine. VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ also said that VNU, Jinan University and Zhongshan University all had a long history of building and development. "Jinan University is a well-known university in China with a number of advantages in the fields of Foreign Languages, Clinical Medicine, Social Sciences & Humanities and Chinese Language and Culture. Therefore, the two sides can promote cooperation potentials in these fields, especially the field of Clinical Medicine", remarked VNU President.

Furthermore, VNU President wished to develop both extensive and in-depth cooperation with Jinan University in joint research projects, faculty exchange and co-organization of bilateral conferences in addition to the Masters and PhD exchange, joint training programs.Acknowledging that VNU and Zhongshan University share many similarities, VNU President suggested that the two sides start cooperating through cultural exchanging activities with ULIS - Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre. VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ highlighted three cooperation prospects between VNU and Zhongshan University including student exchange, recognition of each other's academic credits and academic exchange in the form of joint research programs.
VNU President affirmed, "The cooperation is truly effective only when the parties have a better mutual understanding. Hopefully, Sunwah Group Chairman Jonathan Choi will be a bridge for long-lasting close ties between VNU and prestigious universities in China”.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome by VNU President, Chairman Jonathan Choi suggested that VNU and Zhongshan University promote research programs on the integration of East Asia, especially ASEAN - China Free Trade Area, to further promote the relations between China, Hong Kong and Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam. Mr. Jonathan Choi also expressed his wish to collaborate with VNU and China’s leading universities in organizing various cooperation, cultural exchange events such as the ongoing International Conference on East Asian Confucianism: Traditional and Contemporary held at VNU on March 28 and 29, 2015.

For his part, Jinan University President Hu Jun said, "Jinan University is honored to cooperate with VNU. We look forward to realizing the recommendations by VNU President Phùng Xuân Nhạ”.

Sharing the same opinion, Zhongshan University Vice President Li Ping said, "Zhongshan University also wishes to have opportunities to exchange, cooperate with VNU and hopes that with the support of Sunwah Group Chairman Jonathan Choi, the ties between the two parties in particular and between China and Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam in general, will be increasingly close and long-standing”.
