After 3 days, the national science and technology competition for high school students in the academic year 2023-2024 co-oganised by the Ministry of Education and Training, the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province, the Central Youth Union and the Vietnam Technical Innovation Support Fund was concluded on March 22 at the provincial Convention Center.
Two FLSS students from VNU ULIS Foreign Language Specialized School (FLSS) secured second prize at national science and technology competition for high school students in 2023-2024 school year.
Proudly, two students Do Gia Hien (11D) and Dao Tuan Hung (11C) excellently won the Second Prize in Physics and Astronomy, with the topic: “Building an optical measuring system using microcomputer vision to determine calcium ion concentration in solution”. They also received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
Participating in this year’s contest were 149 topics from 74 participating units from 62 Departments of Education and Training and 12 High Schools. The FLSS team participated in the competition with 2 projects: Making biodiesel fuel from waste cooking oil sources (Le Duc Minh – Class 10B) and Building an optical measuring system using microcomputer vision to determine of calcium ion concentration in solution (Do Gia Hien – Class 11D and Dao Tuan Hung – Class 11C).
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated the passion for scientific research and creativity of the competitors, dedication of the teachers who instructed the students to implement the projects participating in the competition and proper collaboration and careful preparation by the provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province, the host of the competition.
He expected that this competition would help to boost the scientific research activities at school and motivate students to carry out researches and flexibly apply the knowledge to real life.
Along with the second prize of the competition, Gia Hien and Tuan Hung were also honored to receive the Creative Youth Badge from the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
